Cookie Notice
Date: 5 October 2026
This Cookie Notice explains how Disclosure uses cookies and similar technologies on disclosure.legal (the “Website”). It should be read with our Privacy Policy.
1. What are cookies?
1.1 Cookies are small text files placed on a device when a website is visited. They allow a website to recognise a browser or device, remember choices, support functionality, protect security and collect information about use.
1.2 We may also use similar technologies, including local storage, pixels, tags, scripts and software development tools. References to “cookies” in this Notice include these technologies where appropriate.
2. Who sets cookies?
2.1 First-party cookies are set by Disclosure. Third-party cookies are set by another organisation whose service is used on the Website, such as an analytics, embedded-media, security or communications provider.
2.2 Third parties may use information collected through their technologies under their own privacy notices. Disclosure does not control a third party’s independent use of information.
3. Categories of cookies we may use
3.1 Strictly necessary cookies: These support essential functions such as security, network management, load balancing, consent preferences and access to requested features. The Website may not function properly without them.
3.2 Analytics cookies: These help us understand how visitors use the Website, for example which pages are visited and whether errors occur. We use this information to measure and improve performance.
3.3 Functionality cookies: These remember choices or settings and may provide enhanced functionality.
3.4 Advertising or social-media cookies: If used, these may measure campaigns, limit repeated advertising, support sharing tools or help third parties build a profile of interests across websites. The current Disclosure model does not assume that these cookies are used; this must be confirmed before publication.
3.5 Cookies may be session cookies, which expire when the browser is closed, or persistent cookies, which remain until their stated expiry date or are deleted.
4. Your choices
4.1 When you first visit, our cookie banner or settings tool will provide choices for non-essential cookies where required. You can accept or reject categories and change your selection using [Cookie Settings link/button]. Strictly necessary cookies cannot normally be switched off through the tool.
4.2 You can also manage cookies through your browser. Blocking or deleting cookies may affect Website functionality.
Browser controls do not necessarily prevent other storage technologies, which should be managed through the Website settings or relevant device controls.
4.3 A withdrawal of consent does not affect processing that occurred before the choice was changed.
5. Third-party links and embedded content
5.1 Links to contributor biographies and other third-party websites do not by themselves mean that Disclosure controls cookies used after you leave the Website. The third-party site’s own cookie and privacy notices apply.
5.2 Embedded content, such as video, audio, maps, social-media posts or external fonts, may allow the relevant provider to place or read cookies when the content loads. Such content should not be enabled before any required consent has been obtained.
6. Updates and contact
6.1 We may update this Notice if our technologies, providers or legal obligations change. The date at the top identifies the current version.
6.2 Questions about cookies or privacy should be sent to [privacy email/address].
